Explore the active side of Dayton with the whole family at Five Rivers MetroParks’ 2018 Wagner Subaru Outdoor Experience. This event will feature two days of outdoor adventure from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, at Eastwood MetroPark, 1385 Harshman Road in Dayton. Last year, MetroParks welcomed more than 15,000 people to the Midwest’s premier outdoor adventure festival, featuring more than 20 outdoor activities, live entertainment, competitions and more. This year, visitors can count on even more high-flying demos, hands-on activities and opportunities to shop for gear.
“The Wagner Subaru Outdoor Experience is a chance for people of all ages to try new outdoor recreation activities or hone existing skills,” said Angela York, MetroParks’ special events coordinator. “It’s just a taste of all the adventures you can have year round in all 18 clean, safe MetroParks.”

Exhibitors, Contests, Music and More
On-site exhibitors will offer new equipment for purchase, and local clubs will link festival-goers with resources to get them outside. A used gear area, supported by Dayton Hikers, will be available to those who wish to consign their old gear with the consignment fee supporting the Five Rivers MetroParks Foundation. Exhibitors will close at 8 p.m. on Saturday so festival-goers can enjoy an after-hours party atmosphere with live music, Pixie bike races, raffles and more.
Enjoy live music, programmed by 91.3-FM WYSO and featuring some of the best acts in the Dayton region. Fill up with a variety of options from local food trucks, and grab a beverage from the Great Lakes Brewing Company Food & Beer Garden. Water will be available to guests for free thanks to the city of Dayton’s Bring Back the Tap truck.
This year’s vendors also have committed to the festival’s waste free initiative and will not sell plastic water bottles and will serve food on compostable materials. The compost collected at the event will make its way to the gardens at Cox Arboretum MetroPark. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own non-glass water bottle and reusable pint mug. Steel pints also are available onsite for $5 with your first beer purchase.
Bring a tent and camp for the weekend on the banks of the Eastwood lagoon. Campsites are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Limited space will be available for small pop-up campers, too.
