Touch A Truck events are great entertainment: How often can kids climb into a fire truck, a bulldozer or a dump truck just for fun? And as these have caught in popularity, different towns throughout Dayton have stepped up to house! Keep in mind that due to noise {like honking horns!} these events can be overwhelming for young children or those with special sensory needs – use your best judgment if attending is right for you.
So for your truck or ‘anything with wheels’ enthusiast, here’s a guide to all the 2019 Touch A Truck fun in the Dayton area:
Relay for Life “Touch a Truck”
Date: Saturday, April 27, 11:00 am-1:00 pm

Bring the kiddos to City Barbeque Centerville to Touch A Truck – first 100 guest get a FREE grilled corn on the cob from City Barbque. City Barbeque will also be holding a fundraiser for Relay for Life in which 25% of sales from those who attend Touch-A-Truck will be donated to their cause. Kids can touch, sit, and play! Also, have the chance to win FREE BBQ FOR A YEAR! See you there!
Big Rig Gig
Date: Saturday, May 12, 10:00 am-Noon
Location: Oak Grove Park, 1790 E Social Row Rd, Dayton, Ohio 45458
Check out big vehicles from around town! Honk a fire truck horn, shift tractor gears, push buttons in the law enforcement vehicles and much more! Attendees are encouraged to bring school supplies to donate to Cline Elementary students in need. Donation suggestions include unopened markers, colored pencils and two-pocket folders. This event is LOUD. Please consider providing ear protection for your child(ren) if sensitive to sound. No pets, please.
Springboro
Date: Saturday, May 11, 11:00 am- 1:00 pm
Location: North Park, 195 Tamarack Trail, Springboro
Touch A Truck allows children of all ages to “explore” the various equipment that the City utilizes on a daily basis (dump trucks, leaf vacuums, police cruisers, backhoes, etc.). Children will be allowed to climb on, touch, and “operate” the equipment, so it can give them a better perspective on what our City employees do in their work for the City. (And the kids might be allowed to turn on a siren on a police cruiser!) Free.
West Chester
Date: Friday, June 14, 11:00 am- 3:00 pm
Location: The Square @ Union Centre, 9285 Centre Pointe Drive, West Chester
Cool trucks bring out the kid in all of us. Each year, West Chester flings open the garage doors and shares with the community all of the cool trucks that serve our community every day. Fire trucks, police vehicles, snow plows, military vehicles, helicopters, rescue boats and more line the streets on The Square @ Union Centre. Feel free to climb behind the wheel, sit in the shovel of the backhoe, and speak with the men and women who operate the equipment essential to community operations. Community organizations with cool vehicles are invited to be part of this event; those interested in participating should check back here for an entry form. This event is completely free. Plan to spend a couple hours and then enjoy lunch at a nearby restaurant. Free.
Hamilton Township

A community-wide event where kids have the opportunity to see, touch dozens of cool vehicles. Free.
Miamisburg
Date: Friday, July 19, 12:30- 2:30 pm
Location: Riverfront Park, 3 N. Miamisburg
Over 25 big rigs, ambulances, trucks and other really cool vehicles will be on-site. From 2:00 pm-2:30 pm, event is Sensory Friendly (no horns or sirens). Tour the MedFlight EC-130 medical helicopter, one of a fleet of nine helicopters that complete over 7,000 critical care transports across the state including in support of all Kettering Health Network facilities.
KidX Touch-a-Truck

Location: Dayton Mall
Bring your kiddos to enjoy a variety of big trucks, cars, engines and more! You will be able to get up close to check out the big tires, ask questions about what each vehicle does, and even test out the driver’s seat! Plus, we’ll have lots of other fun, free family activities. Free.
Montgomery
Date: Thursday, August 1, 9:00- 11:00 am
Location: Weller Park, 8832 Weller Road, Montgomery
Kids line up to see, touch and get behind the wheel of the big rigs, tractors, and equipment the City uses. City staff showcases their vehicles and interacts with the kids at this fun summer event. Fire, police, public works and some special military Humvees and Rumpke dump trucks setup for this FREE big rig display.
