Join us on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Ancient Earthworks and Nature Preserve for the annual Spring Wildflower Walk led by Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist Dave Woehr. Participants will enjoy the natural beauty of the flora and fauna gracing the woods of southern Ohio while learning about spring flowers and plants.
“Every spring we are amazed by the beauty of the landscape at Fort Ancient. The blooming wildflowers set against the timeless archaeology of the ancient mounds is an incredible sight,” said Fort Ancient Site Manager Jack Blosser
Attendees are encouraged to wear appropriate shoes and dress for the weather; the walking trails are moderate and reasonably flat, but the path can include foot bridges and other natural obstacles. The walk can take up to two hours.
Dave Woehr is a life-long nature enthusiast trained as an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist and has been conducting tours through the human-built Fort Ancient Nature Preserve for many years. He has been supportive of nature programs in Ohio parks on the state, county, and city levelsm
